Aadhaar SSUP Update
Aadhaar SSUP or Aadhaar self-service update portal was launched by UIDAI to do the service of updating Aadhaar card details for the citizens of India. It can be used to update details like name, address, gender, date of birth and mobile number both online and offline straightforwardly and easily.
Aadhaar details that can be updated
The Aadhaar details that can be maintained by SSUP can be divided into two categories:
- Demographic Details- It contains details like; Name, Address, DOB/Age, Gender, mobile number, Email Address, Relationship Status and information sharing consents that allow the information that can be shared.
- Biometric Details- This contains exact details that can be used for the identification of the individuals. This includes; Facial photograph, Iris and finger prints.
UIDAI accepts a wide range of Proof of Identity documents that can be used to update the demographic details of Aadhaar, the list of documents that can be used is easily available on official UIDAI website.
Aadhaar SSUP Update Modes
Different ways can be used to Aadhaar SSUP Update.
- SSUP Via Online– The self-service update portal’s online mode is very useful and easiest of all the methods that are available. It offers a demographic update to the cardholders and cardholders can directly request update just by following few simple steps on the official website of UIDAI. The 12 digit Aadhaar number and the registered mobile number of the cardholder will be required for online updating service. The card holder will be provided an OTP on their registered mobile number which can be used to complete updating process. After logging in by using Aadhaar number, the cardholder will be required to upload documents supporting the update they desire, and UIDAI officials will verify it. To use this service, the cardholder must have a registered mobile number without it this function cannot be used.
- SSUP Via Post– Cardholders can also update their demographic details (except their mobile number)via post. This can be done by following just a few simple steps. The cardholder will have to send an Aadhaar Data update request form, along with documents supporting their updates to the UIDAI through the post. UIDAI will process the update request after receiving and verifying the documents and after the update process is completed, a receipt of the update request will be sent to the cardholder through SMS by UIDAI.
By Visiting Permanent Enrollment Centre of UIDAI-
This is the only mode of SSUP by which both the demographic as well as biometric details on the cardholder can be updated. The card holder will be required to visit their nearest permanent enrollment center. In this mode, the documents are collected by the operator of the center at the time of accepting the update request. The operator also does the verification of the document at the same time. And if there is an application for biometric updates by the applicant then new biometric data is taken by the operator during the time of accepting the request.
SSUP is a beneficial service which makes the complicated process of Aadhaar updating and verification very easy for both the government as well as the citizens of the republic of India.
